Celebrity cook-off at Taste of Cayman

Two celebrities went head to head with a basket of mystery ingredients supplied by Beacon Farms at a cook-off held at Taste of Cayman last Saturday.

We delivered two identical baskets filled with fresh produce from the farm, including jackfruit, apple bananas, sugarcane, okra, hot peppers, seasoning peppers, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, mangoes, callaloo and custard apples, plus some of our coconut flour and pepper jelly.

Guided by professional chefs, contestants Tammi Sulliman and Kenneth Bryan were tasked with creating a dish using these ingredients on the stage in the Taste of Cayman Experience Room.

The pressure was on, cooking in front of the large crowds that attend Taste of Cayman, and judged by Chef Tre Sanderson, winner of Top Chef Canada alongside The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Executive Chef Frederic Morineau and Director of UCCI School of Hospitality, Nordia England Prout.

Congratulations to the winner Tammi Sulliman and her mentor Chef Sara Mair-Doak who made a ginger callaloo stir-fry with garlic jackfruit chutney raita.

Taste of Cayman is the biggest culinary event of the year attracting thousands of people to Camana Bay's Festival Green where they can sample food and drink from local restaurants. Beacon Farms was proud to participate in the cook-off and showcase our produce at the event.
